Community Development Project!

Community Development Project in Government Day Secondary School, Kpege-Mokwa.

In a bid to actualize one of the objectives of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) which is Community Development, Helen Nneka Eke executed some projects in Government Day Secondary School, Kpege Mokwa, Niger State, Nigeria. The projects executed were:

1. Development and organization of a library in Government Day Secondary School, Kpege-Mokwa.
2. Payment of school fees for thirty (30) indigent students.
3. Labeling of offices of the school.

Project 1:  Development and organization of a library
The project comprised:
i) a total of eight (8) shelves;
ii) about 10 reading desks alongside some seats for the library users;
iii) A total of one hundred and fourteen (114) most recent textbooks donated by the National Library, Lagos, virtually covering all subjects;
iii) A total of ninety three (93) updated textbooks of varied subjects as donated by Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan;
iv) A total of seventy (70) newspapers as donated by philanthropists in the vicinity and neighboring town. Such magazines as TELL, The News and Newswatch.
v) Other inspirational pamphlets were also donated. See the picture below:

Project 2: Payment of school fees for thirty (30) indigent students.
A total number of thirty (30) students were selected, with the help of the school management. The Parents’ Teacher Association (P.T.A) levy was part of the payment. See Picture below:
