University of Abuja Library Training

On 4th October, 2016 at University of Abuja, I trained some University of Abuja librarians and academic staff  on Using Social Network Platforms for library services such as: Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Mendeley and Zotero reference management systems were also introduced to the participants as a way of preparing them for a more robust training in the future. I began by relating the essence of social media in library services and why libraries need to key into this trend as it has been observed that most library users are on social media and invest more time chatting and sharing ideas. Most libraries abroad are on social media and connecting with their users. The essence of the training was to let the librarians know the relevance of blogs, twitter, Facebook, Mendeley and Zotero in Library practices. The social media platforms are what they should use to reach out to their patrons while the Reference Management Systems are for reference building and building researcher profiles for collaboration and publicizing of academic works.See original post here: http://okpalahelen.blogspot.com.ng     See pictures:
